We spent this morning at Rathwoods super hero event. I was gifted tickets in return for running an instagram competition and sharing our experience.
We took a train ride around the woodlands in search of a villan. On the way we saw Santa’s reindeer and Tinkerbells fairy house. The train journey was lots of fun. We made a stop at the Superhero Academy where the kids got to do some arts and crafts and Superhero training.
We then clambered back on the train and found the villan who gave the Superheroes their powers back. Oisín (age 2) was afraid of the villan and was delighted when he jumped off the train. However, my friends son (age 4) was a little disappointed he didn’t get to meet the villan and get a photo taken with him like the other Superheroes.
All in all it was a great morning.
Entry is 12 euro for kids which includes the train ride, a mask, a Superhero medal and certificate and a Superhero cupcake at the restaurant. However, it is €4 euro entry per adult which doesn’t include any refreshments. The The Merry Tree Restaurant has a large food selection from carvery to cakes. There is also a nice gift shop that stocks an array of things to browse; a garden centre, a boutique, fashion items and a chocolate garden. If the kids still need more entertainment there is a lovely playground, a deer park and a Maze shaped of Ireland (3 euro entry fee). We didn’t do much exploring as Oisín was ready for his nap.
Hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know your thoughts and if you plan to visit Rathwood with your family. Rathwood run lots of events throughout the year such as Teddy Bear Picnics, Easter, Halloween and Christmas train experiences. They also have a standard woodland train which runs at 3pm on the weekends (3euro). We will definitely be back. Head over to their Instagram account to see how you can win a pass to their Easter Eggsperience.
